No more PROBATION for Migrant Workers in Malaysia since1st July 2013. Well, very odd, because for workers employed under fixed-term employment contracts, there really should be no probation period at all.
PROBATION PERIOD really should only be used when the employment is to be confirmed to REGULAR employment (meaning employment until retirement or until employer no more). This probation should be for a period of no more than 3 months - time for both employer and worker to suitability of the employment relationship, whereby the employer considers also the ability of the worker to do the job... - thereafter, if satisfied, it is confirmed and the worker is a REGULAR employee until retirement...
For short-term or fixed-term employment arrangement, there should be NO Probation...
Migrant workers in Malaysia are all employed on fixed-term contracts (3-5 years generally), and thus the government is RIGHT in affirming that PROBATION should not be there in such employment relationships...
